The Austrian Academy (AdFÖ) dedicated a plaque to honour Cavaliere Luigi Barbasetti, founder of the AdFÖ and the Union Fecht-Club.

Dr. Herbert Laszlo, President of the AdFÖ, Dr. Dieta Pfliegl, President of the Union Fecht-Club and Renate Kaufmann, Mayor of the borough VI of Vienna unveiled the plaque on December 3, 2004. The plaque is mounted on the building Hofmühlgasse 16 in Vienna, home of the Union Fecht-Club.

Fencing Master Robert Scranton, former President of the USFCA

Maestro Scranton left this world for the next last thursday. He was known by several in the group. His credital list included having a degree as a fencing
coach (ithaca,NY), being the former United States Fencing Association President, instructor to several junior gold Olympic and World fencing finalist - and his hungarian Master wrote one of the current foil, saber, and epee fencing manuals.

He'll be missed. Blessings Maestro Scranton.

Gérald Williot is the new General Secretary

Decisions list 2003 Congress in Leipzig on november the 22d and 23d :

FOIL
• Lamps locking time : 300 milliseconds (before: 550)
• Foil contact time increase : 15 milliseconds (2)
• Adoption of the Mangiarotti tip (most difficult to whip)
• Maximal strip arrow reduced to 1 cm
• Stop tip pression increased to 750 gr (500)
• Removal of the shoulders inversion as a fault

SABRE
• Lamps locking time : 120 milliseconds (350)
Application : test during the World Junior Championships from october the 1st 2004.
